MR. AMOUR EXPLAINS

INCIDENT ON PLANE PASSENGERS CLASH CANBERRA, Oct. 18. Senator Amour, in the Senate replied to the criticism of his recent trip abroad and referred to what he called the "San Francisco episode”. Mr. Abbott alleged in th.- House of Representatives that Mr Amour had become drunk in San Francisco and was removed from the plaae. Senator Amour said that when he joined the plane at San Francisco he took a match to light a cigarette “I did that once in this chamber.” he said. “I have done that on many occasions—want of thought "A- passenger apparently became very excited. He told me to put out the light. When I told him not to get excited he charged at me. I put my arm up and pushed him back as any other Australian would do.

“The captain of the plane told me he would not take ire and put off mv luggage. No policeman, as stated, interfered in any way. I was told I could join the next plane.’
