REDUCTION OF LOAD THREATS OF PENALTY (S.R.) WAIROA, April 24. Mr. W. Langbein, engineer to the Wairoa Electric Power Board, has reported to the board that since last month the power supply position lias deteriorated to such an extent that “on threats from the Stale Hydro-Electric Department lo implement the penal clauses of the control order," he was forced to take measures which reduced the load by approximately 17 per cent, below the highest unit consumption over the past three years. Mr. Langbem predicts that no improvement in the allocation can be expected until the hydraulic conditions improve at the hydro stations REP. RUGBY PLANS Efforts are to be made by the Wairoa Rugby Sub-Union to have the King's Birinday games resumed between Poverty Bay and Wairoa, on a home and home basis. The Wairoa representatives will visit Gisborne on June 2 and the Poverty Bay juniors will travel to Wairoa Something m the nature ot a record will be established in Wairoa Rugby on May 1U when, if plans materialise, no less than 12 teams will be playing in town. This arrangement is under wa.y in order to allow the Hawke's Bay selectors, Messrs. D. Dalton (senior;, and C Le Quesne (junior) to see as many players in action as possible when tney visit Wairoa on the date mentioned. Due to the ineligibility of Mr. P. These competitions were completed at an all-day tournament. FALSE PRETENCE ADMITTED Appearing before Messrs. A. T. Carroll and G. A. Thompson, J.P.s, at Wairoa, Patrick Kohere Waikare pleaded guilty to charges of false pretences and of converting a lady's cycle to nis own use. On the first charge Waikare was admitted to probation for one year, and on the second lie was sentenced to two months' imprisonment with hard labour. PERSONAL Feeling reference to the late Mr. Frank ioley was made at Monday's meeting of the Wairoa Rugby SubUnion, that gentleman having rendered yeomen service to the game in this district. It was decided to forward a letter of condolence to the bereaved relatives. Due lo taking up his residence at Taupo, Mr. W. A. Edwards has resigned his position as a member of the Wairoa Fire Board. Mrs. E. Coppersmith. Wellington, is visiting her sister, Mrs. C. Matches, Wairoa.
