JUDGE CRITICAL
UNION’S CONDUCT VICTORIAN STRIKE “PISTOL AT COMMUNITY” MELBOURNE. April 23. Three judges uf the Arbitration Court criticised the Amalgamated Engineering Union for its part in a dispute which has disorganised industry and transport in Victoria. Acting Chief Judge Drake Brockman said the union was deliberately holding a pistol at the head <j)f the community. Judge Foster said the union preferred to hold the community to ransom rather than submit its' case to arbitration. Judge Kelly said the. union, by its action in the Victorian strike, had placed itself outside the arbitration system. The Full Arbitration Court was hearing applications by the Industrial Registrar for deregistration of the Federated Ironworkers’ Association, Amalgamated Engineering Union and Victorian Chamber of Manufacturers.
