RECENT WEDDING

MOORE—LADD

When Vera Isabella, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. Ladd, Patutahi, was married on March 15 to Frank, son of Mr. and Mrs. F. Moore, Bushmere road, she wore a beautiful wedding gown of white lace with a pointed bodice from which the softly gathered skirt fell in graceful folds. The back of the bodice also came to a peak and from it the skirt swept into a long train. The heart-shaped neckline was scalloped and the long sleeves finished in the traditional points over the. hands. The bride’s only ornament was a single string of pearls, and her beautiful hand-embroidered veil, which was lent by a friend, was kept in place by a tiered orange-blossom coronet. Her trailing bouquet was of white asters, dahlias and roses, with maidenhair fern. She was given in marriage by her father at St. Andrew's Church, which had been decorated with green creepers and pink and blue hydrangeas. The Rev. J. Davie conducted the ceremony. Mr. I. Moore played the wedding music. Attending the bride were Misses Dorothy Hennah, chief, and Eunice Harrison, who were both in sheer pale pink worn over matching satin. The bodices had heart-shaped necklines and yokes which were outlined with frills, and gathered peplums. The gathered skirts fell from peaked waistbands and the sleeves were made with gathered panels down the centres. They wore sprays of dahlias and asters in their hair and their trailing bouquets were of the same flowers in pink and mauve tones. Maureen O'Dowd was the flower girl and frocked like the ’maids in pink. She wore a spray of asters and dahlias in her hair and carried a trailing bouquet in pink and mauve tonings. Geoffrey Ladd, who was the page boy, was in cream satin with lace jabot and cuffs and knee-length breeches. The best man was Mr. John Sefton, and Mr. Harry Moore was groomsman. The guests .were welcomed later to the reception at the Bon Accord, the bride’s mother being in a dusky pink crepe frock with a navy edge-to-edge coat and navy accessories. Her spray was of pink carnations. The bridegroom's mother wore a navy crepe frock with a navy edge-to-edge coat and accessories and white carnation spray. _ The bride’s grandmother, Mrs. J. Atkins, wore a black crepe frock and matching coat. Later the bride and bridegroom left on their honeymoon, the bride wearing a pink crepe model frock with navy blue accessories. They are making their home in Gisborne.
