RUHR COAL INCREASE

CONCESSIONS TO MINERS (9 a.m.) LONDON. Jan. 29. The Times’ correspondent in Berlin says that for the first time since the German capitulation the daily output of coal in the British zone in Germany has exceeded 200,000 tons. This was last Friday, when production was 221,421 tons. Production increased steadily throughout last week and of the 18 days worked in January up to last Friday only three show decreases on the previous working day. The correspondent adds that, the increased output reflects the stimulation of recent increases in the miners' rations and the institution of a scheme whereby regular attendance at work is rewarded with points, enabling the miners to buy more consumer goods.
