CRUCIAL TALKS
MOSLEMS OF INDIA PEACE OR STRIFE? MEETING IN KARACHI ATTITUDE TO ASSEMBLY (11.30 a.iu.) LONDON, Jon. 29. Tint Delhi correspondent o:li the All .India Moslem League "Working Committee arc now gathered in Karachi for today’s meeting, which will discuss the league’s attitude to the qualified acceptance by Congress of the British Government J s statement on December 6 and whether or not the league should enter the Constituent Assembly. The atmosphere for the discussions is far from propitious and feelings are running high, but some informed observers doubt whether Mr. Jinnah and his colleagues will be guilty of such bad tactics as to put themselves in wrong by rejecting the Congress offer out of hand. It is thought more likely that they will follow the Congress example by returning a qualified answer inveighing against both the British Government and Congress but not rejecting constitutional courses or flatly refusing to participate in the Constituent Assembly. At all events, it is certain that this Karachi meeting is crucial and holds the key to peaceful progress or civil strife 'in India during the coming months. i -
