PORT WRECKED

SALVADOR QUAKES PEOPLE LIVE IN PARKS SMALL LOSS OF LIFE (9 a.m.) SAN SALVADOR, Jan. 29. The combination of earthquake and volcanic eruption which began on Sunday wrecked or damaged every building in the Republic of Salvador’s leading port, La Union, on the Gulf of Fonseca. Eye-witnesses said that because of the danger of falling buildings, the entire population of 10,000 is lmng in the parks and are dependent on the Salvadorean Red Cross for supplies. Two hundred earth tremors occurred up to noon yesterday. The eruption of Conchagua Volcano is now abating, but a pall of smoke still overhangs the sea and lava is flowing into the sea. Only one person is so far known to have died as a result of the upheaval.
