£ 1300 FOUND IN ROOM

When police opened a locked door in a Chinese rooming house in Madras street, Christchurch, they found Gin Ming Oy, aged 54, married, a laundryman, lying dead on a bed. They also found that Gin had about £I2OO scattered round his bedroom in paper packages- . , , It is believed that Gin died from natural causes. An inquest has been opened for identification purposes. The packages, containing the money held not only banknotes, but a quantity of silver in New Zealand. Canadian United States, Australian, English and even Chinese currency. There was over £6OO in New Zealand money, and over £4OO in United States dollars. _ * Gin formerly worked in Christchurch as a gardener. He spent the last few years employed in a Chinese laundry.
