General Meeting Dates

If a sufficient number of members support the proposal, there is a possibility of the Gisborne Returned Services’ Association altering its usual custom of holding the annual general meeting on Anzac Day, following the district memorial service. On many occasions in the past discussion of interesting topics at the annual meeting has had to be cut short owing to pressure of time, and at the last Anzac Day gathering the executive was recommended to consider alternative dates which would give more scope for discussion. Various alternatives were considered at a meeting of the executive held last evening, when it was decided to invite all Diggers and Kiwis to a special general meeting on a date in February to make a decision. Some reluctance is felt by older members of the executive concerning the possibility of a change from the Anzac Day date, but since Kiwis now outnumber Diggers largely in the membership of the association. it is felt that their opinions in the matter should prevail.
