Mr. John O'Shea, formerly Wellington city solicitor, is at present visiting Gisborne.

Mr. J. A. Gilmour, S.M., has been appointed chairman of the Government Railways Appeal Board.—P.A.

Mr. W. M. Jenkins was appointed at yesterday’s meeting of the East Coast Provincial Centennial Council to be trustee of the council’s funds in succession to the late Mr. C. E. Matthews.

Colonel R F. Gambrill presided over Messrs T. Todd, M. J. White, A. J. Nicol, N. H. Bull. J. H. Hall, F. Tolerton, R. P. Baigent, R. Morse and W. M. Jenkins, registrar, at yesterday’s meeting of the East Coast Provincial Centennial Council.

Mr. Neil Hutchison, who is in charge of the British Broadcasting Corporation’s interests m Australia and New Zealand with headquarters in Sydney, arrived at Wellington yesterday. The purpose of his visit is to encourage cooperation between the New Zealand and the Australian broadcasting setups and the 8.8. C. He expects to be in Wellington about 10 days. He will then return to Auckland, leaving for Sydnc by flying-boat.—P.A.

The impending departure of Miss K. L. Glenn, librarian of the Turanganui Public Library, was referred to at a meeting of the library_ committee last evening, when the president, Dr. A. L. Singer, complimented her on her appointment as Hastings, librarian. He expressed regret that Gisborne was to lose her services, which had been most satisfactory, other members endorsing the president’s remarks. It was stated that Miss Glenn would not take up her new appointment until late in March, and steps are being taken by the committee to secure a suitable replacement
