READY TO START

TRANSIT HOUSING

Government authorisation for the gifting of the buildings and services at the Makaraka Domain for transit housing was received by the Gisborne Borough Council last night.

As a tender for the work has already been accepted, the work can start immediately.

The commissioner of works in notifying the council of the Government’s approval stated that if the buildings and services are removed at tlie end of the transit housing period the Government required the council to indemnify it against any claim for restoration of the grounds to their normal condition,

“That seems very satisfactory and the indemnity asked for is reasonable,” commented the Mayor, Mr. N. 11. Bull, and the council agreed to the terms as set out in the letter.
