MENTION IN DISPATCHES GISBORNE SERGEANT For distinguished service in Italy, Stafl'-Sergeant J. B. H. Davoren, Iranui road, Gisborne, has been mentioned in dispatches. Staff-Sergeant Davoren entered camp in January, 1941, sailing for the Middle East in April of that. year. On his arrival in Egypt he joined the

Battalion and served in the campaigns leading up to the defeat of Rommel in North Africa. He went to Italy with the Headquarters Division, and after service there returned to New Zealand in April of this year. He is a son of Mr. and Mrs. P. Davoreen, Cook street.
