LEFT WITH DEFICIT

BELGIANS AND LEND-LEASE LONDON. Sept. 2. Belgium is the only European country left with a deficit by the cessation of lend-lease, says The .Times' diplomatic correspondent. The Belgian Supply Minister, M. Kronacker, has arrived in London to take the matter up with the American authorities. Belgium, until supplied with £40,000,■OOO worth of goods and services under reverse lend-iease, had shipped from the United States goods worth less than £12.000,000. It would interfere seriously with the efforts her people are making to get their economic life going again if Belgium had to forego the difference between the two amounts. . It is felt unfair that the Belgians should be financially burdened because of their zealous service to the Allied cause.
