HUMOUR IN POLITICS

Sir.—l was amused to find that the Gisborne Labour Party does not appreciate a comedian. Certainly wit does not seem to sparkle in those quarters, but even a un--;t secretary must know that the world is prepared to pay its highest prices for the gilt of humour. “Say it with a smile” may not be his motto, tint the velvet glove can be as effective as tiro mailed fist. Who is the biggest draw at the pictures and the music halls?—The Comedian every time. The humourist who can write liis own script is invaluable, and tiiat speaker has no. mean brain who can deliver his message with wit and humour and good humour. I commend him to our Labour friends as an example to imitate. —“CHEER-UP."
