USE OF AIR FORCE HUTS
Sit',—Recently we read in the paper that the Borough Council had decided not to take any further action in regard to t|ie acquisition of Air Force-huts for- the use of the unfortunate homeless people of Gisborne—the reason being given that not sufficient applications had been received. As far as I can gather, the inquiries made were through one channel only, which did not reach a large number of people, myself included, who would joyfully have taken the opportunity of securing one of rheHe huts. Had fuller publicity been given to this question through the press in the form of advertising for applicants, I feci sure that, in view of the fact that there are over 400 applicants for State houses, a sufficient response would have been forthcoming to justify putting the scheme Into operation. Might I suggest to His Worship tho Mayor that the acute position existing to-day calls aloud for some further fiction ?-Gj THOMSON.
