IN ONE BOMBER

THREE GISBORNE BOYS GUNNER DECORATED Flying together in a Lancaster bomber which has made many notable raids over Germany and Italy are three Gisborne boys who went on operations together in October of last year and now, after taking part in approximately 30 raids, are all on leave in England. The captain of the plane is Pilot Officer Peter Singer and the navigator is Sergeant J. L. (Tim) Williams. The third member is Flight Sergeant Jack Colbert, who lias just been promoted, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Colbert, of Te Puia Springs, who is the wireless operator. A third member of the erew comes from Taihape while another, Sergeant John Dempster, who belongs to Vancouver, was awarded the D.F.C. for shooting down two German fighters which attacked the bomber during one of its raids.
