AUSTRALIAN ACTOR
MR. BLAND HOLT DEAD (3 p.m.) - MELBOURNE, June 30. The death has occurred of Mr. Bland Holt, a former brilliant - Australiari actor, at the hge of 89 years. Mr. Bland Holt, who will be remembered by many of the older generation in Gisborne, appeared on the stage here in the days when‘the companies were forced to land by tender, if they could land at all, and return to the steamer in the same fashion immediately on completion of the entertainment. Mr. W. Barrington Miller, who sponsored many of the brilliant shows in those days, recalls Bland Holt as a master of racing melodrama and for years the idol of the Australian stage.
