British and Imperial forces, supported by armoured units and squadrons of the Imperial Air Forces, at ■dawn yesterday began an advance into Cyrenaica, extending from Solium to Jarabub. South African, New Zealand and Indian forces entered Libya just south of Sidi Omar. Enemy interference by air or land so far has been negligible. The attack was carried out in tremendous rain. At the end of the day Imperial troops had penetrated 50 miles into Libya. •
