TOKIO MURDER PLOT AXIS PRESS SIGNS (Reed. Aug. 18, 11.30 a.m.) SHANGHAI, Aug. 17. It is reported in diplomatic quarters that Axis newspapermen telephoned to the Japanese Home Ministry in Tokio 10 hours before the attempted assassination of Baron liiranuma, asking whether he had been shot. The Japanese police have questioned other foreign correspondents closely as to jvhether they had advance knowledge of the plot.
