CONCERTED FIGHT

FOILING HITLER PIECEMEAL ATTACKS ADVICE OF LITVINOV (Elec. Tel Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Reed. Aug. 18. 1.50 p.m.) LONDON. Aug. 17. “All nations in the war against Germany must fight simultaneously with the maximum effort,” declared the spokesman of the Soviet Foreign Office, M. Litvinov, in a cablegram to ■■wields News. “All must, while helping one another, remember that he who gives in time gives twice. “Hitler counts on the possibility of smashing his enemies individually, one after another. A decisive victory can be achieved only by withholding this possibility from Hitler. “Hitler already has transformed nearly all of Europe and parts of Asia and Africa into a huge battlefield covered by millions of corpses and heaps of ruins, but lie will not be content until he has dragged into this bloody war those few countries remaining outside it. “The Russians are inspired by the consciousness that in the herioc. titanic fight against the bloodthirsty Nazi hordes are centred all the inspirations and expectations of all peoples of Europe. “The Soviet peoples, are confident of the sympathy and co-operation of all elements in the front against the Nazis.” Observing that it was no exaggeration to say that a new stage of the war begins with British-American-Soviet collaboration the Soviet paper Pravda states: “Hitler is preparing for new adventures and weaving a tissue of intrigues of provocations in the Near East. He is exercising pressure on the weak-willed Vichy Government in order to break through to West Africa and create there a jumping-off ground for attack against the American continent. The first task of the three great Powers is to solve the complex problem of the rational distribution of their incalculable resources.” A Soviet High Command communique issued today states: “During last night our troops continued stubborn fighting along the whole front. The air force, in co-operation with our ground forces, continued to deal heavyblows at enemy troops and planes on enemy aerodromes.”
