CHANGES ANNOUNCED PROMOTIONS & TRANSFERS GISBORNE MAN'S POST . (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. Among the appointments, promotions, and transfers of members of the Second New Zealand Expeditionary Force, gazetted last night, is the notification that Brigadier .N. 8. Falla relinquishes the appointment of commandant of the Second New Zealand Expeditionary Force Base on being placed on the New Zealand roll. Lieutenant-Colonel J. M. Allen relinquishes the command ,of the 31st (Auckland) Battalion and is appointed to command the 21st (Auckland) Battalion vice Lieutenant-Colonel M. L. Macky, who relinquishes the command. Major D. F. Lenkie is appointed to command Ihe 23rd (CanterburyOtago) Battalion temporarily, vice Lieutenant-Colonel A. S. Falconer, who becomes temporary brigadier. Major R. C. Queree relinquishes the appointment of brigade major, Second New Zealand Divisional Artillery, and is appointed General Staff Officer, second grade, Second New Zealand Division, vice Major E. L. H. Davis, who relinquishes the appointment and ceases to be seconded. Major A. Ainslie relinquishes , the appointment of second in command of the Fourth Field Regiment, New Zealand Artillery. Major M. A. Bull Relinquishes the appointment of second in command of the Fifth Field Regiment, New Zealand Artillery. Major A. N. Grigg relinquishes the appointment of second in command of the Artillery Training Regiment and is appointed second in command of the Fifth Field Regiment, vice Major Bull. Major J. M. Mitchell is appointed second in command of the Fourth Field Regiment, vice Major Ainslee. Major H. W. D. Blake is appointed second in command of the Seventh Anti-Tank Regiment, vice LieutenantColonel T. H. E. Oakes.
Major R. W. Sharp succeeds Major Grigg, second in command of the Artillery Training Regiment. Lieutenant W. G. Lovie, 22nd Wellington Battalion, is appointed public relations officer, Second New Zealand Expeditionary Force, and granted the temporary rank of captain. Lieutenant-Colonel F. Prideaux, New Zealand Army Pay Corps, is appointed Chief Paymaster and financial adviser, Second New Zealand Expeditionary Force. Major G. H. Heal, New Zealand Corps of Signals, is appointed deputy assistant adjutant-general, Headquarters, Second New Zealand Expeditionary Force. Colonel Sir Stephen S. Allen relinquishes the appointment of military secretary, Second New Zealand Expeditionary Force, on proceeding to the United Kingdom for discharge. Major L. F. Rudd. New Zealand Engineers, is appointed military secretary, Second New Zealand Expeditionary Force.
Captain W. G. Lovie, who has been appointed public relations officer, left Gisborne in the early stages of the war and was in Britain before going to the Middle East. He was formerly a member of the Gisborne Herald staff.
