: PEAK BY NEXT JULY j‘ HALFWAY IN JANUARY I (Reed. Aug. 14, 2 p.m.) NEW YORK, Aug. 13. ; Mr. W. S. Knudsen, director of the Office of the Production Management, predicted that the national defence I programme would reach halfway by : January, 1942, and the peak by July. “After this,” he said. “America can write its own ticket in order to achieve the objective by negotiated contracts, instead of bids, and the pooling of manufacturing bonuses for j early deliveries through sub-contract- ' ing, the latter requiring much greater speed than at present.
