40 PERSONS KILLED
GREAT CHILIAN STORM SNOW BLOCKS RAILWAYS (Reed. Aug. 14, noon) SANTIAGO (Chile), Aug. 13. A severe storm which raged in central Chile for seven days killed 40 persons and seriously disrupted traffic. Thousands of railway passengers art temporarily stranded. Scores of bridges are down or damaged. Telephone and telegraphic lines and nine railroads have suspended services because of snow and rock slides. Parts of the main railway are covered by 200 ft. of snow. Tracks have been torn up at many points and towns hooded, including San Ferando.
