APPLE COMSUMPTION
i During the 1941 season, from January to the end of last month, the average consumption of apples was 11 a head a week, according to figures presented at the annual conference of the New Zealand Fruitgrowers’ Federation, held in Wellington. This figure is based on an average distribution of 111,000 cases each week and on an average of 150 apples to the case. The normal consumption is estimated at 4.5 apples a head a week. The supply of apples for the six months was 2,560,050 cases, and the distribution locally over the same period totalled 1,850,000 cases.
