PEOPLE OF SAMOA

PATRIOTIC ASSEMBLY

(Reed. June 4, 9 a.m.) APIA, June 2,

To-day, the day set aside for the celebration of the King’s birthday, saw a large and representative gathering of Europeans and Samoans assembled at the Administration buildings at 9 a.m. Loyal and stirring addresses were given by the acting-Administrator, Mr. A. C. Turnbull, the Hon. O. F. Nelson, and the Hon. Malietoa Fautau on behalf of the Samoan members of the Legislative Council, the Faipule and the Samoan people.

On parade were the Samoan Defence Force, with Colonel Harley in command, returned soldiers, the Samoan police force under Chief Inspector Braisby, and inspected by the A very loyal and patriotic demonstration closed with the singing of the National Anthem and the Royal salute.
