BOROUGH POLLS

ELECTION TO-MORROW all seats contested TWO PRINCIPAL GROUPS INDEPENDENTS SCARCE

Polling booths will open at 9 a.in. to-morrow for the triennial borough elections, at which every seat available on local bodies for borough representation will be contested. The pollingplaces will remain open until G p.m.. and it is expected that the result of the Mayoralty contest, between Messrs. N. H. Bull and D. W. Coleman. M.P., will be known well within the hour.

Voters are advised to exercise care in marking their ballot papers, and to observe particularly the recognised method of indicating the candidates for whom they wish to vole. The ballot-papers are prepared with a square opposite the name of each candidate, and the voter will select his or hei - approved candidates, and put crosses in the squares opposite those names. Any voter who has difficulty in dealing with the long lists of candidates. may rest assured that any clear indication of the voter's intention will be accepted by the returning officer; but it will facilitate the work of the polling clerks if the official method is followed.

Display of Results The Herald will display the unofficial counts of votes to-morrow evening in the usual way, the order in which ilie counts are to be made being the Mayoralty, the Borough Council, Harbour Board, Hospital Board and Power Board.
