54 PER CENT REJECTED
TERRITORIAL TRAINEES WELLINGTON FIGURES (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. The medical examination of men drawn from Wellington and Hutt Valley areas in the second territorial ballot has been proceeding for a fortnight, and an analysis of the figures shows that approximately 54 per cent of those examined have been rejected as permanently or temporarily unfit for service—24 per cent as temporarily unfit and 30 per cent as permanently unfit. Tlie figures are: Total examined for the fortnight ended Saturday, 2383: fit, 1111; temporarily unfit, 584; permanently unfit, 708. It is pointed out that the ballot was drawn from all men within the age group regardless of their condition of health. Also, the reserve does not include many thousands of single men passed fit and already serving in or accepted for the navy, army, and air force.
