CHANNEL ISLANDS
GERMAN NEWSPAPER The first German newspaper ever to appear on the Channel Islands is being published by Dr. Hermann Kindt a member of the German garrison of Jersey, says the New York Times Called the Deutsche Insel Zeitung, it goes to press in the offices of the former Evening Post, whose printer! set it up along with their own paper. The front page is in German, but pages 2 and 4 still carry English texts for the benefit of'the population. Its news is chiefly made up of radio reports I'rom Germany. Some difficulty was experienced at first by the English printers, for none of them spoke German, but now everything is said to be functioning smoothly.
Only German pictures are being shown in the cinemas on the Channel Islands. The German newsreels have English sub-titles.
