BANK WITHDRAWAL NOTE SOLDIER REPEATS RUSE (Per Press Association.) DUNEDIN, this day. Private Arthur Albert Freeman, aged 21, a soldier on leave from Papakura camp, pleaded guilty in the Police Court to-day to wilfully signing the name of G. R. Purser to a Post OfTice notice of withdrawal for £3 10s. In a statement to the police the accused said he knew Purser, who was in the same military company. He was tempted to operate on the account because he was short of money. Detective Gibson stated that accused was convicted in Christchurch recently for obtaining money by a false pretence. On that occasion he adopted the same procedure, used the same name and applied for the same sum. The accused was committed for sentence.
