Mr. E. J. Stock claimed £3 10s for battens which were missing after his road fence had been altered. The council agreed to pay the amount claimed. Engineer’s Report The county engineer, Mr. C. Percy reported that during the past month all available men and both graders had been employed in clearing up flood damage. With a few exceptions, the roads were in fair order and a continuation of fine weather would materially help in bringing matters back to normal. “In the Arakihi riding,” the engineer added, “all the roads are in fair condition. In the Tauwhareparae riding the main highway has received a good deal of attention and is in good order. A week or two of fine weather to enable the grader to get in full time will quickly bring most of the roads to a usable standard. In the Mangaheia riding many willows have been planted. These should materially assist in holding up this class of country. The council should consider enforcing the heavy traffic restrictions over Delta road during the winter. In the Mang.afuna riding the branch roads have all received a top-dressing of river shingle.”
