FANCY DRESS BALL PUBLIC SERVICE SUCCESS (Horn I<l Correspondent.) The Nuhaka Public School’s annual fancy dress ball, held on Thursday night, was a great success. Many parents, friends and ex-pupils atended and entered into the fun wholeheartedly. The teachers and school committee greatly appreciated the splendid effort he parents had made in dressing the children in such a variety of costumes The children gave a number of action songs, and a folk dancing display reflected much credit on them and also on Mr. H. Hankin. headmaster, and Miss A. Norman for the manner in which the children had been trained. The accompaniments were played by Miss Norman, and dance music wa> supplied by Kent's Sound System, Wairoa. A tasty supper was served by the parents and friends. .The prize-winners were:—Seniors. — Best Dressed Girl: Dawn Rolland (Valentine). Best Dressed Bov; Dudley Hughes (Beefeater). Best Dressed Pair: Jill and Jack Stewart (Rajah and Ranee). Most Original Boy (Norman Bluck (Rumour). Most Original Girl: Rosalind Bluck (Australia). Juniors. —Best Dressed Girl: Beula Boyle (Oranges and Lemons). Best Dressed Boy: Aldous Mclvor (Charlie McArthy). Best Dress Pair: Jacqueline and Ken Crombie (Scotch Pair). Most Original Boy: Graham Clayton (Flower Bag). Most Original Girl: Rosina Boyd (Flying Colours). Mesdames J. Powdrell and J. G. Mclntyre acted as judges.

Mrs. Wi Ncpia is visiting her son Pela, who is a patient in a Wellington hospital.—Miss M. Ncpia, who has been staying in Nuhaka, has returned to Wellington. Mr. P. O'Sullivan, Omana, left Nuhaka for Wellington on Saturday.—Mr. J. Watt is visiting the Waikato.
