R.S.A. MARKET CLOSED SUBSTANTIAL PROCEEDS All five candidates in the patriotic queen carnival were interested in various organised efforts made on Saturday to entertain the public and to increase the revenue of the respective committees. Patrons of the Paddy’s Market were offered a wealth of including stage shows by Miss Tun Smith's dancing pupils and Mrs. Leslie's entertainers.

There were several dances on Saturday night in aid of different candidates, the sports’ candidate being represented by a dance in Miss Bobbie Scott's studio; the Maori candidate at a ball given by Muriwai residents with marked success; and the. R.S.A. candidate at a country dance organised by Waerenga-o-Kuri women. Cosmopolitan club members also supported their candidate at a social evening, to signalise the winding-up of a successful campaign for bottles, rags and bags which took place during the day.
