RODEO GATHERING
MORE HELP NEEDED SOUPS AND CAKES PATRIOTIC EFFORT The Poverty Bay Women’s Representative Committee is anxious to secure further assistance from housewives throughout the district in connection with the catering effort undertaken for the A. and P. Association’s rodeo on Saturday, June 1. When the effort was first begun by the committee on behalf of patriotic funds funds, it was expected that between 890 and 1000 people would be catered -for. There is. however, a likelihood that the number will greatly exceed the larger of these figures, and realisation of this fact has led to an appeal by the committee for still more generous contributions. Soup and cakes are particularly needed, and gifts of these articles would be much appreciated. A depot is being opened at the Gisborne Garage, in Peel street,, on Friday morning, and a representative of tne committee will be in attendance to receive and acknowledge contributions. In order to avoid difficulties following the effort at the showgrounds, the committee will provide receptacles for soup, and also cases for cakes. Donors will be invited to take home their own containers after making deliveries at the depot. The depot will be open throughout Friday, from 9 a.m., and on Saturday morning until noon. The committee is desirous cf enlarging also the stocks of the work stall at the showgrounds, and will welcome any contributions.
