WILLIAMS AND KETTLE
ANNUAL MEETING
| The forty-ninth annual meeting of (he shareholders of Messrs. Williams and Kettle. Limited, was hold in Napier on Monday. Mr. E. J. Herrick, chairman of directors, presiding. The annual report stated: —"The directors congratulate the shareholders upon the satisfactory year’s working, which lias resulted in a net profit of £12,504 9s lid. to which lias to be added the balance carried forward from last year of £12.273 5s fid. thus showing a total available lor allocation of £24,777 15s 4d." In moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet, the chairman referred to the satisfactory position of the company’s affairs, and stated j that the directors were happy to be in ! a position to recommend payment of j a dividend of (i per cent on paid-up j capital, the remaining balance to be ; carried forward Rebates to shareholders on business j contributed already had been paid on j die basis of 1' per cent on. goods pur- j chased, 5 per cent on land commis- ] sions contributed and 10 per cent on j oilier commissions contributed. After outlining the various items in ! the balance-sheet and reviewing the j conditions of the past year’s working, ! Mr. Herrick moved the adoption of the report and balance-sheet, which | was seconded by Mr. F. B. Logan and : carried. On the motion of Dr. W. B. Mer- j cer, seconded by Mr. I. B. Logan, the ; retiring directors, Messrs. Herrick, F. ] V. Kellie and E. Gordon Williams I j were re-elected On the motion of Mr. G. F. Gardiner, seconded by Mr. L. S. Davis, j the retiring auditors, Robert Dobson and Company, were re-elected. A vote of thanks was passed to the directors, general manager and stall for the efficient way in which the ; business of the company had been j conducted during the year. The chairman stated that he was j proud to say that 16 members of the i company’s staff had enlisted with the New Zealand forces, and on behalf of the directors and shareholders commended them for their action in offer- 1 ing their services, and wished them every success. ■
