“TWIN ABOMINATIONS”

DRINK AND NUDE SHOWS

LONDON, April 5.

Stricter control of “those twin abominations, bottle parties and nude shows,” was urged in the House of Commons by the Rev, James Little, a Presbyterian minister, who was elected to Parliament last year as Conservative member for County Down. The Home Secretary, Sir John Anderson, replied: “The Lord Chamberlain is consulting the London County Council and is preparing a report. There are 27 known bottle parties in London. lam considering whether strengthening of the law is necessary. "Control of living performers, who by slight changes in behaviour could alter the character of a scene, is more difficult than the control of films, although the responsibility of the licensing authorities for the maintenance of decency is the same in both cases.”
