MONTHS IN CAMP

TERRITORIAL UNITS INTENSIVE TRAINING Members of the territorial infantry units in Gisborne will undergo intensive training at Waiouru this year, to bring them up to the standard of discipline and military skill judged to be necessary for any national emergency in which their services might be called upon. Officers and N.C.O’s. will enter camp on August 1, and will spend two months undergoing a solid refresher course in all instructional and command work. Immediately upon this course being completed, they will take over the training of the other ranks of their units, who will be in camp for three months continuously. Thus officers and N.C.O’s. will be required to spend five months continuously away from their homes, though leave will be granted when occasion warrants. Expeditionary Force pay will be the basis of the territorials’ remuneration during their intensive training. .
