Sick and Wounded Fund

A broadcast address in support of the sick and wounded fund sponsored by the Joint Council of the Order of St. John and the New Zealand Red Cross Society will be given by the Hon. W. Perry, president of the New Zealand Returned Soldiers' Association, following the 5.45 p.m. Daventry news bulletin to-day. Old Settlers’ Picnic A suggestion was made recently that a picnic should be held for old settlers, and tentative arrangements were made for an outing last Saturday to finish oil,the reunion function on Empire Day. It was decided, however, that in view of the unsuitability of the weather at this time of the year for an outdoor function to defer the idea temporarily, but the matter will be kept in mind for the summer months, the actual date of the King’s birthday in December having been suggested as a suitable time.
