SENIOR B GRADE

REMARKABLE RECOVERY One of the most remarkable recoveries known in Gisborne hockey was seen in the B grade game on Saturday between H. 5.0.8. and Wesley, the latter winning by five goals to three after being three-nil down at half-time. H. 5.0.8. gave a good performance against Y.M.C.A. the previous week, when two late goals gave them a highscoring draw, and when half-time was reached with a three-goal lead over Wesley it seemed just a matter of how many goals the old students would win by. However, Wesley rallied after halftime, but it was not until the last 10 minutes, during which three goals were scored, that the real H. 5.0.8. collapse occurred. In all, Wesley secured five goals in the second spell, two by Stokes and one each by Leech, Gordon and Pilcher. Woodrow scored twice and Aitken once for H. 5.0.8. WELLINGTON MATCHES (IVr Press Associution.) WELLINGTON, this day. The Wellington representatives v. Combined Universities women’s hockey match resulted in an easy win for Wellington by nine goals to nil. The men’s match, Wellington v. Combined Universities, was won by Wellington by three goals to one.
