RETURN TO THE HORSE

FIRM OF STATION AGENTS PETROL RESTRICTION Owing to the petrol restrictions one firm of Otago stock and station agents has made a partial return to the horse and gig. Donald Reid and Company, Limited, have supplied their agents in some centres with smart-moving cobs and gigs, and some of these are already in use. These agents still retain their motorcars for use on long trips, or in bad weather, but it is proposed that daily rounds within a reasonable radius of headquarters shall be covered by means of the slower but equally certain horse and gig. The firm’s agents in Middlemarch, Milton and Mosgiel already have been supplied with their auxiliary form of transport and since quality horses and vehicles have been provided the change has not been unwelcome.
