POSSIBLE TOURS

REP. RUGBY SIDES AUSTRALIAN INQUIRIES (Reed. Mar. 2, 12.40 p.m.) SYDNEY, Mar. 2. The New South Wales Rugby Union has asked the New Zealand union whether it would like a team of Australians, to tour the Dominion during the season or whether the New Zealand union would prefer to send a team of All Blacks to Australia. Officials in Sydney consider that the international situation may influence the New Zealanders against an interchange of visits at this time, but it is thought that if a tour takes place the money taken could be given to patriotic funds of both countries. Mr. H. Flegg, the president of the New South Wales Rugby League and chairman of the Australian Board of Control, said: “Personally I consider the New Zealand League did the wisest thing is not accepting the invitation to send a team to Australia. There is considerable uncertainty in the international situation and the New Zealanders seem to look on the war differently from the Australians and be more intent in organising for victory.”
