COMFORTS FOR TROOPS (Herald Correspondent.) A meeting of the ladies of Bartletts was held this week to consider ways and means of providing extra comforts for the Bartletts men who go overseas. Mrs E. A. Smith was elected chairman, Mrs. J. Clanachan secretary and treasurer, Mesdames French, Muir, Breingan, Feasey, Lahood, Mulligan, Fouhy, McCoach, Poole, Pohalu and E. Borst a committee. The organisation will be known as the Bartletts Social Club. It was decided tu hold a progressive fivehundred evening on Thursday, March 7. Mr. and Mrs. R'. Francis returned to Bartletts on Monday after having spent a holiday in Christchurch and Wellington.—Messrs. McCallum and Jackson. Government audit inspectors, are paying an official visit to Bartletts. Mr. W. L. Bell, resident engineer, Who has been attending the engineers' conference in Wellington, and Mrs. Bell, who has been spending a holiday in Palmerston North and Wellington, are expected home on Saturday. Mr. F. Fouhy, who has been in the Cook Hospital as a result of a motoring accident, has returned to his home, but will not be able to return to work for some time.
