NAPIER DISPUTE SEQUEL. An echo of the recent waterside trouble at Port Ahuriri, was the appearance in the Napier Magistrate’s Court of two waterside workers, Robert Scott Beveridge and Thomas Robert Clark. Beveridge pleaded guilty to using insulting words to a stevedore, and Clark pleaded guilty to a charge of using obscene language. About 30- waterside workers had gone out to load a ship and had to return to the roadstead. It was held that the defendants and four others were intoxicated and a stevedore had objected to their working. It was theri the language complained of had been used, the police stated Both men had already been severely penalised by their union. Beveridge had been deprived of ..work which was equivalent to a loss of 1120 and Clark had also sulfered severely. Beveridge was lined £1 and Clark £5. »
