OBITUARY

MR. ALEX.. DRUMMOND The dentil occurred this week of Mr. Alexander Drummond, Hastings, who was well-known in the sawmilling industry throughout New Zealand. Mr. Drummond was born in Hokitika in 1867, and in his youth left to reside in Dunedin, where he entered the sawmilling business. Later he became a member of the well-known firm of Drummond Brothers, sawmillers, who carried on their business in both islands. They were engaged in milling operations at Puha, and subsequently moved to the Matawai district. Mr. Drummond was keen on all forms of sport, was always interested in the volunteer movement, being a member of the Dunedin Highlanders, and later the Eketahuna Mounted Rifles. He was predeceased by his wife 10 months ago.
