At the Hawkesbury races to-day, the principal event resulted:— Hawkesbury Handicap, 1 mile.— Last Chance, 7.7 (Cook), 1; Überous, 7.11 (Darke), 2; Blackfern, 7.12 (Duncan), 3. Eight started. Half a head; a length and a half. Time, 1.40. R. Skelton, a prominent Sydney owner-trainer, was disqualified for 12 months along with the filly Poly Pan, and the jockey R. Skelton, following Poly Pan’s running in the first division of the Maiden Handicap at Hawkesbury to-day. The Australian Jockey Club to-day amended the rule rendering it possible for barrier positions to be published at acceptance time, as is the practice in Melbourne, a decision which is welcomed by racing folk.
