CHATSBURY GOES WELL CONTINGENT FOR SYDNEY (Eloc. Tel. Copyright —United Press Assn.) (Heed. Feb. 29, 9 a.m.) MELBOURNE, Feb. 27. Chatsbury cantered twice round ori the cinders at Caulfield track to-day. He moved freely. Melbourne visitors to Ihe Sydney Cup carnival are likely to include Ajax, Maikai, Gay Prince, Rex Felt, Pure Gold. Manrico and El Golea. S. Ralph will probably ride Gladstone in the Australian Cup.' Operatic enhanced his prospects for the Newmarket Handicap by a comfortable win in the Newmarket Trial at Mentone to-day. Crojick and Pure Gold filled the places. The latter collided with the rail at the turn and received a cut on the near hind leg. Veterinary attention was necessary, but the effect will not be known for a day or two. Rex Felt and Graceful Mover disappointed. Graceful Mover’s connections are considering scratching him for the Newmarket Handicap. Birdplay defeated a moderate field in the Newbury Plate. N. Percival will ride Fort Haven in the Newmarket Handicap. Celeris was a trifle sore after the Newmarket Trial and may miss the big race on Saturday.
