AUSTRALIAN WARNING WAR EXPENDITURE (Reed. Feb. 28, 2.50 p.m.) SYDNEY. 28 The Acting- Federal Treasurer, Mr. P. Spender, issued a warning that taxation would have to be severely increased to finance Australia’s war efforts, in announcing the terms of the £18.000,000 war loan. “Increased taxation is inescapable if we stick to the principle of paying for the' war as we go as far as practicable,” he said. 'Taxation however severe, cannot yield the whole amount required. Australia will ffiave to borrow on an increasing scale.”
