“Cock-of-the-Works” Competition

The “cock-of-the-works” cricket competition will be revived in a series of games to be played between teams from the Gisborne Refrigerating Company, Limited, the Tokomaru Bay freezing works, and Swifts (N.Z.), Ltd, Such a competition found a great deal of interest nine or 10 years ago, the Waipaoa works’ team being in possession of the tin rooster at the close of the competition. The Gisborne Refrigerating Company’s team will travel to Wairoa during the week-end to play the first of the new round of games, and it is expected that Swifts’ team will return the visit after Easter.
