COPPER FROM SPAIN

CHECK BY ALLIES NONE FOR GERMANY (British Official Wireless.) Reed. 2 p.m. RUGBY, Feb. 27. The Minister of Economic Warfare,. Mr. R. H. Cross, stated in the House of Commons to-day that no copper ore shipped from Spain since the outbreak of the war had reached Germany and none could be shipped without passing through the British or French contraband control area. Mr. Crbss later stated that he believed there was no truth in the statement that the Spanish Government was forcing the Rio Tinto mines to export copper ore to Germany, adding that he understood from a member of the Rio Tinto Company that no copper ore was being exported from Spain, but all was being used in that country.
