WEDDING BELLS

MARSHALL—MCPIKE PARCHMENT LACE FROCK (Hornlil Correspondent.) A pretty wedding was solemnised in Holy Trinity Church on Wednesday, December 27. when Jane Grier, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. S. McPike, Te Wera, was married to Allan, son of Mr. and Mrs. R. Marshall, Mangapapa. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. J. Hodgson, and Mr. D. Dyer presided at the organ. The bride, who was escorted by her father, looked charming in a frock of deep parchment lace over parchment satin. The bodice was made full, with tight-fitting sleeves edged with pleated tulle. A tulle edging also set off the neckline and train. The skirt was made on slimming lines. Her beautiful parchment tulle veil, a gift of the bridegroom’s sister, was held in place by a top-knot of orange blossoms. A lovely sheaf of lilies was carried. The bride was attended by her cousin, Miss Alice Isbister, Auckland, and Miss Leila Gribb, Paeroa. Dressed alike in gold taffeta, they looked very attractive. The frocks were made full at the top, with leg o’mutton sleeves edged with rulean at the cuffs and round the neck. The very full skirts had large sprays of red and green appliqued. Top-knots of red flowers were worn with tiny gold veils. Sheafs of red gladioli were carried. They wore Richelieu pearls, the gifts of the bridegroom Mr. S. Sinton was best man, and Mr. G. McPike, the bride’s brother, was groomsman

After the ceremony a delightful reception wa sheld in Le Grand Cafe, Mr. V. Butler acting as M.C. The wedding breakfast was served at tables decorated with cream and gold flowers, pride of place being taken by the three-tier wedding cake, the gift of the bride’s aunt. Mrs. McPike. mother of the bride, was wearing an elegant saxe blue georgette frock with navy accessories. She carried a bouquet of pink roses and carnations. Mrs Marshall, the bridegroom’s mother, wore a brown floral frock with brown accessories. She carried a bouquet of autumn-tinted flowers. The bride's geing-away frock of navy and white Canadian silk was cartridge pleated in the front. She wore a small v/hite hat with navy accessories, and a fur, the gift of the bridegroom.
