Improved Air Services To Operate Next Month
WELLINGTON, June 23 (P.A.).-— Improved air services on several routes from Monday, July 3, are announced by the National Airways Corporation. , ... . An additional return flight will be made between Christchurch and Wellington on Mondays and Fridays for those wishing to go away for the week-end. There will be a new late afternoon service between Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch. The last departure for the day from Auckland will be at 2.35 p.m. and from Wellington at 4.25 p.m. Passengers will reach Christchurch before 8 p.m. This service will be additional to the one which leaves Invercargill at 12.35 p.m., Dunedin at 1.35 p.m., Christchurch at 3.40 p.m., Wellington at 4.40 p.m, and reaches Auckland before 9 p.m. An evening service between Gisborne and Auckland is to be run later. It will leave Gisborne at 4.30 p.m. and reach Auckland at 7.30 p.m. Alterations to the Auckland-Ham-ilton-Palmerston North- Wellington service will permit new connections between Hamilton and Dunedin, Christchurch, Nelson, Blenheim, New Plymouth, Napier and Gisborne. Twenty-four-seater Douglas planes will replace the 15-seater Lodestar aircraft on the Auckland—New Ply-mouth-Palmerston North- Wellington route. The corporation announces that although the preparation of beacons on the aerodrome at Napier to receive the heavier Douglas ’plane is progressing, it will not now be possible to introduce the larger aircraft on the East Coast routes in July as originally intended. This will be done as soon as the aerodrome work is finished. '
